Acrobat X update fail 1406

$

hi there,

everytime my Acrobat X tries to update I get an error 1406

looking up the error code on Adobe.com (https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/update-errors-acrobat-reader-windows.html) suggests I "Log in as administrator and access the appropriate registry key:(Acrobat) HKLM\Software\Adobe\Acrobat " - I'm always logged in as Admin, and can access the key in Regedit, but does not tell me what if anything needs changing.

I don't have Acrobat Reader installed, and I think maybe this is confusing the updater.

Has anyone got any solutions ? I wasted an hour in adobes support chat talking to 3 agents who couldn't help

thanks

I have a purchased version of Adobe Creative Suite.  Recently (the past 6 - 8 months), the Acrobat Pro application stops working after approximately 30 days.  Everything else works just fine.  But Acrobat will just shut down when a file is open and then refuse to open again.  I have to uninstall and reinstall the product every time.  I have a product key and it is linked to my Adobe account.  Any ideas how to fix this?  Thanks!

Will Acrobat Pro 11.0.16 Updater Include the 11.0.15 Security Update?

Hi,

does anybody know whether the Acrobat 11.0.16 updater includes the 11.0.15 Security Update? The updaters 11.0.1 to 11.0.14 could all be installed on top of 11.0, the 11.0.15 Sec could only be installed on top of 11.0.14. Does anybody know the situation for the 11.0.16 update? Can I install it on top of 11.0, or do you have to install 11.0, install 11.0.14, install 11.0.15 and finally 11.0.16?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Matthias

On July 12, 2016, Mobile Link functionality will no longer be available in Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. You can still store and access your files in Adobe Document Cloud. Additionally, you can access, edit, and save your PDFs directly to your Box, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive accounts from Acrobat DC and Reader DC on the desktop.

Invalid Serial Number - Acrobat Pro - Known good number

I am reinstalling Acrobat Pro XI on a machine to try to fix an error that appeared apparently after a recent Adobe update.

(Error was:  There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader.  If it is running, please exit and try again (4:4)) - Opening links in IE 11.  Turning off Protected mode at startup caused a 1:104 error)

We get the "Invalid Serial Number.  This is not a valid serial number" message.

The SN is our known good corporate license one we bought from our very reliable VAR.  It installs on other machines.

The option to select evaluation mode cannot be selected (program hangs).

When I try to install Adobe Reader (as an alternative), I get "Error 1719.  The Windows Installer Service Could not be accessed".

Some other MSI files seem to work correctly.  Exe files install correctly (I was able to install a competitor's reader app temporarily).  Windows installer Service is up.

Machine:  Windows 7 SP1 new build

This recurs after:

*     Adobe Cleaner program
*     System Restore

*     Re-registering MSIEXEC

*     SFC /SCannow

*     Admin vs. Non Admin account installation

Could someone please advise?  I checked for Windows Update 3139923, not installed on machine.   Is there a Windows patch missing or something else we need to do on the system side?

I get the message that this file is "not designed to run on windows or contains an error."

The message suggested I reinstall Acrobat Pro XI. I did and I still get this message. I've updated the program and I still get this message. It started yesterday. Up until then I'd been using the program for 2 years with no problems.

Has anyone successfully thin app acrobat DC or App Volumes?

We are attempting to virtualize  Adobe Acrobat DC using App Volumes.   The application virtualizes easy enough using the .msi and running the optimization tool on Acrobat.   When we push the Acrobat through APP volumes,  it starts one time and runs great.   We have found that just closing the box that pops up asking for Sign in to Adobe Account,  the app stays on and works perfectly.    But close it and try to reopen and the program flashes quick and goes away.   The pop up box comes back asking to sign in to adobe ID,  if we close it,  the program says it cannot continue and closes.

Has anyone had any success in running Acrobat DC through APP volumes? Or ThinAPP?

I have read tons of articles on licensing, Adobe and VMware and we are at wits end with this stuff.    We have tried the serialization post install scripting with no luck either.

We have a fully licensed version to test but cannot get it to work properly.   Acrobat 9, 10, and 11 have virtualized fine but DC will not.

I just updated to windows 10 and now my Adobe Acrobat 8 is asking to have its activation repaired.  When I try to do that, first it says can not be done by internet, and to use the phone.  When I try that it tells me that phone activation is no longer used.  The go/activation site does not have any provision to activate Adobe 8.  What shoul I do before my 5 days are up and the program is useless.

Acrobat DC SO HORRIBLE it's making me want to cry.

I can't find anywhere to file a complaint or submit feedback, so here it is.

Acrobat DC is horrible. I feel like it wasn't made for professionals at all and makes it much more difficult to navigate a simple document. My custom toolbar at the top? Gone. Replaced by ridiculous pre-school style buttons on the right. Want to re-organize page order? It opens up an entirely separate window for that, totally unnecessarily.

Thanks for giving me a day of trying to figure out how I can delete this worthless pile of kindergarten garbage and somehow get back to just Acrobat XI while still using my cloud sub.

Acrobat DC Constantly Crashes

I installed Acrobat DC without any issues through Creative Cloud on my Mac with OS X Yosemite 10.10.3.

However, when I open it, it will crash after about 10 seconds regardless if a file is open or not.

Are there any suggestions on how to fix this?

How can I make the background dark for standard page views in Acrobat Pro DC?

Just installed Acrobat Pro DC (Mac OS 10.10.2) and want to change the light gray background for standard page views to a dark gray but don't see any way to do that. Preferences only address the background color for full-screen viewing, not standard view with tools, menu, etc. The screen is way too bright.

Creative Cloud wants to update Acrobat DC

Recently, the Creative Cloud manager applications has begun to prompt me to "Update" Acrobat Pro DC.

acobat_dc.png

I do not have a license/subscription for Acrobat Pro DC -- my license is for Acrobat Pro XI. (Notice that I can't uninstall Acrobat Pro DC.)

Clicking the Update button gives me this warning:

acobat_dc2.png

I definitely do NOT want to do this, but I can't find any way to keep the Creative Cloud manager app from telling me I should update.

Can anyone point me to a way to disable/ignore the Creative Cloud app from suggesting I update a product I don't have?

Thanks for any ideas...

Acrobat DC Reader Mac will not open after installed

Hi,

I have a Macbook Air 13" running El Capitan 10.11.4 - with 8 GB RAM.  Just tried to install Acrobat Reader DC for Mac.  The app will not open PDF files - it crashes repeatedly and simply will NOT open any PDF file.

The PDF files were originally created using Acrobat DC Pro version - from CC (latest edition).

When moving the PDF files over another computer (the laptop in question) the Acrobat Reader will simply crash upon opening.

Attempted to uninstall and reinstall.  Attempted a reboot after a reinstall.  Attempted to launch other PDF files to see if the files in question are corrupt - no luck.
